Coronavirus in Chennai: Conservancy worker, Egmore station housekeeping employee test positive for Covid-19

CHENNAI: A housekeeping employee at Chennai Egmore railway station and a conservancy worker on contract with the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) tested positive for Covid-19, GCC officials said on Wednesday.
A domestic breeding check (DBC) worker tested positive last week, they said. The DBC worker was working in zone 6 (Thiru Vi Ka Nagar).
The male housekeeping employee is aged around 30 years. Last week, he reported for work very tired and was checked up at the Apollo centre at the station. The health officials there had asked him to go to a government hospital, officials said.
He tested positive for Covid-19 on April 19. GCC officials visited him and took him to hospital.
The list of contract staff working with him was taken and they were asked to get themselves tested.
The conservancy worker of the GCC is a resident of Pulianthope in zone 6. He is in his mid-30s. He was taken to hospital in an ambulance on Wednesday morning, said a resident of the area.
A GCC official said the DBC worker was working in zone 6. As of now, it is unclear if he was part of the door-to-door survey team of the GCC.
