WhatsApp has announced the rollout of its new set of stickers aimed to amplify the benefits of staying at home, healthy practices like washing hands, and also to celebrate the efforts of those who serve during the pandemic. The new sticker pack theme is called 'Together at Home', and the messaging giant has tied up with the World Health Organisation (WHO) for the initiative.
"We hope people enjoy using these stickers to check-in on loved ones, particularly those that are feeling isolated, alone, and scared. This pack offers creative ways to remind people to wash their hands, maintain distance, exercise, and importantly to celebrate medical heroes as well as the personal heroes in all of our lives," said the company in a press note.
The pack features 21 new stickers depicting the kind of activities that most of us are doing at home to stay engaged, social distancing benefits, work from home and similar themes. In addition to English, it is available in 10 other regional languages - Hindi, Arabic, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Turkish.
The 'Together at Home' stickers can be downloaded from the existing sticker gallery. You simply have to tap on the add '+' option to find the new set of stickers.
It's not the first initiative from WhatsApp relating to the COVID-19 pandemic. The messaging giant recently increased the number of users on a video call to four, which is now expected to be increased to eight users.
WhatsApp also launched a WHO chatbot and COVID-19 information hub to help spread awareness about the issues among its users. In a smart move, WhatsApp has also restricted the forwarded messages to only one chat at a time to contain the spread of misinformation and fear-mongering.
