After 21 days, first Covid-19 death of Haryana added to Ambala, three of Shahzadpur discharged

AMBALA: In a recent development, the Haryana health department IDSP has finally added the death toll of a 67-year-old man to the Ambala district tally on Wednesday, after 21 days of his death.
As per the information, the patient was declared Covid-19 positive after his death at PGIMER, Chandigarh on April 1, but since then his case was not being counted in the daily media bulletin released by the state IDSP.
TOI had raised the issue with the health department director-general health services (DGHS), who had assured to look into this matter.
On Wednesday, DGHS Suraj Bhan Kamboj confirmed the addition of Harjit’s death toll to state tally, he said, “As Harjit Singh’s sample was collected at PGIMER, Chandigarh and he also died over there. Therefore, there was an apprehension of double-entry of a single case by Chandigarh as well as by Haryana. After confirming from the Chandigarh health department that they have not counted his death, we added it to Haryana state tally in Wednesday bulletin.”
In another development related to Ambala, three residents a man, woman (both in the early 30s) and a girl (13) of Rajputana Mohalla in Shahzadpur town got discharged from the hospital isolation at MMU Hospital, Mullana on Wednesday, after they tested negative in two consecutive reports received from government lab on Monday and Tuesday.
Ambala civil surgeon Dr Kuldeep Singh told, “Three residents of Shahzadpur have been discharged from hospital isolation and shifted to a government facility quarantine center for 14 days on Wednesday. They tested negative in two consecutive reports from a government lab.”
With these developments, the Ambala district is left with only one active Covid-19 case of a Maharashtra based Tablighi Jamaat (TJ) worker (55), who is kept under hospital isolation at PGIMER, Chandigarh.
Dr Kuldeep told, "Maharashtra man at PGIMER has also tested negative in his two consecutive Covid-19 tests. He would also be discharged soon."
Now the total number of cumulative Covid-19 positive cases in Ambala district reached 12, out of which, 10 recovered, 1 died, and 1 is hospitalized.
