BENGALURU: Bellandur police on Sunday arrested a bakery owner in Kasavanahalli, southeast Bengaluru, for failing to ensure his customers maintain social distancing and allowing them to smoke inside the bakery premises.
Police head constable Dyavappa of Bellandur filed a complaint against Riyaz, 47, owner of the bakery. Around 2.40pm, Dyavappa noticed many people gather outside Riyaz’s bakery on Kasavanahalli Main Road. Riyaz allegedly violated lockdown norms by not ensuring his customers maintained social distancing. He was serving tea and allowed his customers to smoke inside the premises.
In his complaint, Dyavappa said neither did Riyaz make markings outside his bakery to ensure social distancing, nor did he orally ask his customers to follow the rule.
