LUDHIANA: In these uncertail times, our society is showing a sense of hope and positivity. It seems that the people have adapted well to the current situation.
Some residents have shared how a simple celebration, in these difficult times, can bring families closer. The residents said that these small celebrations do not even need a lot of resources.
Kaushal, a resident of Dholewal, said, “We celebrated our daughter’s birthday. Generally, a birthday party is a lavish affair and involves a lot of resources and money. However, this time, it was only us. As a family, we decorated a room, baked a cake, and a meal of her choice did the magic. Absence of her friends and birthday gifts did bother her, but as a kid she has to understand and stop looking for happiness in material things. At the end of the day, the birthday girl was happy and so were we”.
The birthday girl said that although different, but the birthday party was fun. The only thing she missed was celebrating the day with her friends at school.
Sharing her birthday experience, another resident, Kejhal Kalra of Chandigarh road, said, “Birthdays are special and everyone waits for the day. Amid unfavourable circumstances, my birthday this year was a no show.”
“The best thing about my birthday this year was that it made me realise the value of real gifts like love and blessings. I understood that these things are rare. The dreaded pandemic has made us realise the value of human bonds. A small celebration is much more than extravagant parties.”
Muskaan Mahajan of Chandigarh road, said, “We recently celebrated 37th anniversary of my grandparents. We had been planning it for a long time, but due to the lockdown, all plans got cancelled. This made us realize that one does not need large gatherings to be happy. We celebrated the day by spending the whole day with them.”
Sandeep Singh of Jamalpur, siad, “ Every year it’s the same — going out, buying gifts and dinner at a fancy restaurant — but this year a simple meal at home changed everything.”
