Four militants hiding in a village in south Kashmir’s Shopian were killed in an operation of the security forces on Wednesday, according to the police.
“The identities of the militants are being ascertained,” the police said.

The four militants were encircled during a search and cordon operation at Melhora village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday evening.
“The operation was launched after a tip-off. However, the hiding militants opened fire on the search party, triggering a gunfight,” said the police.
The operation was carried out jointly by the Army’s 55 Rashtriya Rifles, the Shopian police and the Central Reserve Police Force.
The police have not named the identity of the outfit of the slain militants so far. “It is being ascertained,” the police said.
