Corona in Rajasthan: Gehlot government stopped antibody rapid test in the state due to kit defect

Ashok Gehlot government in Rajasthan has stopped the antibody rapid test in the state due to a lack of rapid test kits. State Health Minister Raghu Sharma said that the wrong results of the kit are coming out due to which the antibody rapid test has been stopped in the state.

The Health Minister further said that there has been no procedural lapse in our use of the kit. The kit was sent by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and we have informed it to ICMR.

A big question was raised about the reliability of rapid test kit in Rajasthan when 100 patients of Corona admitted to Sawai Mansingh Hospital were tested through this kit. Only five corona-positive patients were found in the test.

On the failure of the rapid test kit, the doctors said that the second batch of the kit was also being examined. Efforts are being made to find out if there was any problem in the first lot alone. If this happens, the government will return the rapid test kit. Explain that the corona test through this kit costs only Rs 600.

Due to bad testing kit, it has to be investigated repeatedly: Bengal government

Earlier, the government of West Bengal alleged that the NICED, the nodal agency of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), provided the kits for the coronavirus investigation in the state, were bad. It was alleged on behalf of the state government that these kits are not showing the correct result, due to which repeated checks have to be done. This causes delays in detecting the disease. ICMR-NICED officials on the matter say that the reason for the problems in the reading may be that these kits have not been normalized.

ICMR answer: Kit must be kept in temperature below 20 degrees

ICMR Senior Scientist Dr. R Gangakhedkar gave an explanation about this on Monday. He said that there have been reports that some test kits in West Bengal are not working properly. We have to keep in mind that these PGI kits are validated from American Lab. But these kits have to be kept at a temperature of fewer than 20 degrees. Not doing so would be a problem.
