LUDHIANA: Two women died of suspected Covid-19 at the civil hospital on Tuesday. With this, the figure of suspected virus deaths so far has increased to 39 in the district. The count of positive cases stands at 19.
A 70-year-old woman from Lohara, Shimlapuri, was admitted to the civil hospital at 10.23am on Tuesday with complaints of pain in chest and breathlessness. A doctors said, “She was declared dead around 11am and her throat swab was taken after 15 minutes. We have sent the swab for test to Government Medical College, Patiala.”
In another case, a 60-year-old woman from Dashmesh Nagar, near Bharat Nagar Chowk, was admitted to the ESIC Hospital at 11.05pm on Monday and she died on Tuesday morning.
Her son said, “She became unconscious all of a sudden and we took her to the ESIC Hospital. She underwent treatment for cough, cold and fever. On Tuesday, she was referred to the civil hospital, as her condition deteriorated. But she could not be saved.”
The on-duty doctors said, “Her throat swab was taken after she died.”
Senior medical officer Dr Geeta Kataria said, “The results are awaited.
