RACE FOR VETTEL'S COVETED FERRARI SEAT?

Word on the home straight is that Sebastian Vettel is not overwhelmed with the 1-year contract extension (at reduced numbers) being offered to him at Ferrari. Apparently he is holding out for a 2-year deal. With champ Lewis Hamilton seemingly committed to Mercedes, candidates being lined up include the likes of Daniel Ricciardo and Fernando Alonso.

MYTWOCENTS VERDICT: If I were Vettel I would sign on the dotted line. Currently on £36m (R900m) per year, he is OVERPAID ... faster team-mate Charles Leclerc is on £9m a year and happy!

DJOKOVIC BACKHANDS CORONAVIRUS

Tennis legend Novak Djokovic has been courting controversy with his reluctance to submit to any Covid-19 vaccination should it be a requirement for the tour to resume. Djokovic has previously spoken of his preference for natural healing as opposed to conventional medicine. This stance has been criticised by a Serbian government epidemiologist who has said that it sends the wrong message in the fight against the virus.

MYTWOCENTS VERDICT: Probably a storm in a teacup as I am sure he would co-operate if it meant competing in a Grand Slam or not.

WHEN GREED KNOWS NO LIMITS

Overrated and overpaid Arsenal flop Mezut Ozil is currently the only Arsenal player refusing to take a 12% cut on his £350k-per-week (R8m) wages. Not only are his selfish actions causing disunity in the squad, but also providing a terrible example to youngsters and damaging the image of the Premier League.

MYTWOCENTS VERDICT: We don't have words strong enough to describe our disdain.

NEWCASTLE'S CONTROVERSIAL TAKEOVER HAS SOME MAJOR OPPOSITION

Newcastle's blockbuster takeover bid by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (controlled by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman) is facing opposition from two major players. English football's biggest overseas broadcast partner beIN Sports have written to the Premier League urging them to oppose the deal while Amnesty International have also demanded the Premier League to consider Saudi Arabia's human rights record before signing off on it.

MYTWOCENTS VERDICT: Bin Salman and his crew clearly have a shocking human rights record. One man who will be smiling either way is current owner, Mike Ashley, who has received a £17m (R391m) non-refundable deposit for the deal.

RETURN OF THE GRONK

Big news out of the US is that legendary tight-end Rob Gronkowski is coming out of retirement to team up with GOAT quarterback Tom Brady at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Brady recently made a surprise switch to the Bucs after a 20 year "dynasty" at the New England Patriots. Gronkowski had been "competing" in the WWE since his retirement.

MYTWOCENTS VERDICT: This move came out of nowhere but these two have been virtually inseparable winning no fewer than 3 Super Bowl titles together.
