Bihar CM asks officials to increase capacity of isolation wards in all districts after state reported 47 new positive Covid-19 cases in three days

Nitish Kumar
PATNA: As Bihar reported 47 new positive cases of Covid-19 in last three days, CM Nitish Kumar on Wednesday asked the officials to increase capacity of isolation wards in all district hospitals. He also asked for increasing the capacity of quarantine centres in all districts.
While holding a review meeting with chief secretary Deepak Kumar and a few other senior officials on the current situation of Covid-19 in the state, at his residence here, Nitish further asked the health department officials to keep all preparations in view of the rise in the positive cases and ensure proper monitoring of every case.
Stressing the need of accelerating the work of tracking, tracing and testing of suspected cases, Nitish told the officials that the chain of covid-19 could be broken only through a thorough tracking of all contacts of new positive cases. “The work of contact tracing is very important. We should speed up the task of contact tracing. There should be no slackness in the job of contact tracking and tracing,” CM said.
He said there was an increase in the number of positive cases, but people should not be panicky as many new cases are related to a single positive person.
He called upon people to follow the guidelines of lockdown and maintain social distancing to defeat Covid-19 in the state.
The state on Wednesday reported 17 more positive cases of Covid-19, taking the total to 143.
