Coronavirus in Chennai: TV reporter is Ambattur zone’s first Covid-19 patient

CHENNAI: Ambattur zone (zone 7) of the Chennai City Corporation recorded its first Covid-19 positive case on Tuesday.
According to health department officials, the infected man is a reporter with a television channel where 26 employees have tested positive.
While the reporter resides in Ambattur zone, his workplace is in Royapuram zone, which has the highest number of Covid-19 positive cases in the city, at 116. As on Wednesday morning, the city has reported 357 Covid-19 positive cases.
“The affected man lives with his mother. We have admitted her to a government hospital for test,” said a health department official.
Ten others who reside in the same building where the affected mediaperson lives are under quarantine. They will be tested.
Manali (zone 2) has no Covid-19 case.
