Originally from Nagada in Madhya Pradesh, Malpani came to Pune with her husband, who works as Assistant Accounting Officer for the Defence. She has a doctorate in Organic Chemistry.

Professor Malpani said that she drew inspiration for the poems from the gratitude she felt towards the defence personnel, police and doctors working day and night for the country.

In her composition ‘Corona Ladhai Ke Shoorveer Yoddha’ (to the brave corona warriors), she has also expressed how we could help boost the morale of the police.
