UP CM warns DMs for ‘poor lockdown’ in several districts

CM is unhappy with some officials
LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath is not happy with the way lockdown is being implemented in some of the districts with hotspots, now 322 of them across the state. He is learnt to have told DMs concerned to pull up their socks. In UP, 980 Covid-19 cases have been reported from these 322 hotspots where almost 35 lakh people have been kept under quarantine.
The CM has also directed that all personnel engaged in carrying out home delivery of food and other essential items should be tested for Covid-19.
Additional chief secretary (home), Awanish Awasthi, said the CM had asked for a 100% lockdown in the hotspots and no negligence would be tolerated. “In the 19 districts where 10 cases or more of Covid-19 have been reported, the lockdown will remain in place. In other areas, DMs should review conditions carefully before giving relaxation during the lockdown,” Awasthi said.
While reviewing the status of Covid-19 in the state on Monday, the CM said that the more than 10,500 students from Kota who have arrived in the state over the past three days, should be made to download the Arogya Setu app compulsorily before being allowed to return to their homes where they would go through a 14-day quarantine.
The government has also identified about 3,000 members of the Tablighi Jamaat across 20 districts, who attended the markaz in Delhi in March. Tests for all of them have been conducted by now. Out of these, 325 foreigners have been booked for violating visa rules and many of them have been kept in temporary jails.
“The CM has stressed on increasing testing and creating labs in state medical colleges where no testing labs are available. He also said that a plan should be prepared to use master trainers for training common people on the first step of containment and management for covid-19,” Awasthi said.
The CM also stressed on ensuring that police personnel and medical staff is dealing with confirmed or suspected coronavirus cases be armed with personal protective equipment (PPE). Police staff on duty should wear masks and gloves to prevent getting the infection.
