16 cases in two days, Gzb plans another Covid hospital

Ghaziabad: The health department is looking for another Covid hospital (level 1) in Ghaziabad. Officials have already inspected several private hospitals for the purpose.
In the past two days, Ghaziabad has reported 16 Covid-19 cases, taking its tally to 46. At present, there are 106 beds in two level 1 facilities in the district, of which 30 are occupied.
One L-1 facility is at CHC Muradnagar, where 30 patients can be admitted. Two teams of 25 staff, including six doctors each, are deputed on a rotational basis for round-the-clock duty at the hospital. The second L-1 facility has been developed at ESI Hospital in Rajendra Nagar where 76 patients can be admitted. Officials have decided to admit asymptomatic patients to this hospital.
Health officials are now of the view that the staff posted at CHC Muradnagar could be shifted to a new facility where there are at least 150 beds.
Dr NK Gupta, the chief medical officer, said, “We have found that our team of 25 doctors and medical staff can handle even a 150-bed facility, but they are currently handling 30 beds. An exercise has been initiated to locate a private hospital where a new facility can be set up.”
The state-appointed observer for Ghaziabad, Dr AK Paliwal said, “We have visited some private hospitals and are preparing a database. A discussion will be held before reaching any decision. We still have many beds at our facilities.”
