SINDRI: The Dhanbad district administration on Monday ordered the closure of Dhanbad divisional rail manager (DRM)’s office until further orders after a railways employee in the division’s engineering section tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday.
Dhanbad DRM A K Mishra said, “Fifteen other employees who came in contact with the patient have been put under quarantine at the divisional railway hospital and their samples have been sent to PMCH for tests. We have decided to keep the DRM office closed till we receive their reports. Even if the reports come negative and the district administration advises us to reopen the office, we will run the office with not more than 30% of the staff till the situation becomes normal.”
The Dhanbad district administration is yet to trace the source from which the employee got infected. Swab samples of all the 14 members of his in-laws’ family at Chas in Bokaro district have been taken and all of them have been quarantined.
Doctors and paramedics at Dhanbad divisional railway hospital are also being screened after reports emerged that the railway employee had visited the hospital for treatment. None of them have developed any Covid-19 symptoms so far.
