BENGALURU: Fever clinics are being set up at 12 private medical colleges in Bengaluru to scale up screening of suspected Covid-19 cases. Swab collection facilities for testing have been assigned to these clinics.
The colleges will follow the standard operating procedure set by the health department. All cases of influenza-like illness and severe acute respiratory infection will be screened free of cost, and the medical details will be fed into the government’s Covid-19 response portal every day.
The 12 colleges are Rajarajeshwari Medical College & Hospital, BGS, Saptagiri, MS Ramaiah, St John’s, KIMS, Oxford, Akash, Ambedkar, Vydehi, East Point, and MVJ. Several private medical colleges across Karnataka have also been asked to double as fever clinics. District administrations will supervise the activities at the new clinics. Personal protective equipment and other items will be provided by the government.
