The number of coronavirus positive cases continues to rise daily on the 26th day of the nationwide lockout. According to the latest data released by the Union Health Ministry, the total number of Kovid-19 cases in the country is 17,265 and the death toll is 543.


The number of those discharged from the hospital is 2,547. Ministry data showed that 1,553 new cases and 36 deaths have occurred in the last 24 hours. The government has said that from Monday, April 20, there will be some relaxation in lockdown in areas outside the control area.


However, areas declared as areas of coronavirus virus will face strict restrictions from authorities. Last week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended the nationwide lockout to 3 May. However, Telangana has extended it until 7 May.


Maharashtra and Delhi have emerged as the states most affected by the coronavirus epidemic. Maharashtra has reported 4,200 cases, while Delhi's tally was 2,003 as of Sunday evening. States like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka have also seen an increase in infection cases.
