LUCKNOW: Hours after a video showing a head constable attacking a senior sub-inspector with a baton in Sitapur district went viral on social media, the head constable was suspended while an FIR against him was registered at Kotwali police station area in the district on Tuesday.
The incident had taken place at RMP trisection in Kotwali Nagar of Sitapur district.
Giving details, Superintendent of Police, Sitapur, LR Kumar said that senior sub-inspector Ramesh had scolded head constable Ramashray for not conducting proper checking during the lockdown. He got agitated over this and attacked his senior.
“On Tuesday morning, Ramesh who is deployed in Kotwali Nagar police station was taking round and found head constable Ramashray sitting on a chair. On being asked to conduct checking at the barricades he started hitting the former with a baton,” said Kumar.
Later, the matter was reported to the control room while an action was being taken against the errant cop, in the meantime video of the incident went viral.
A case under disaster management act 2005, and attacking a public servant and causing hurt has been registered against the errant cop.
SP also said that a departmental action would also be taken against Ramashray-“He would either be dismissed or demoted from his rank,” said the officer.
