Packaged foods maker Nestle India said in a BSE filing late Tuesday that all its plants have got permissions to resume
operations, and that manufacturing at the plants has begun at scaled down levels to maintain social distancing norms.
Last month, the India unit of the Swiss packaged foods maker had announced scaling down or
suspension of production across some of its plants with the exception of essential
products, with the government announcing a national
lockdown to contain the spread of COVID-19.
Manufacturing or suspension of operations at various locations is dependent on the directions of the central and state governments and authorities.
Nestle makes instant snack Maggi noodles, Nescafe coffee and KitKat chocolate. Makers of foods products, though classified has essentials, had been facing the dual challenge of lockdown enforcements and acute labour shortage because of migration and fear of the Covid-19 over the past one month.
