AMBALA: Three residents of Rajputana Mohalla in Shahzadpur town in Ambala tested negative for Covid-19 in their second consecutive report from government labs on Tuesday, civil surgeon Dr Kuldeep Singh said.
They were earlier tested positive for Covid-19 in reports received from a Gurgaon-based private lab on Sunday.
“As all the three Shahzadpur residents were asymptomatic, therefore, we decided to conduct their test from government labs. They have now tested negative for Covid-19 in their two consecutive tests conducted on Monday and Tuesday. Therefore, we may plan their discharge on Wednesday but they would be kept under home quarantine,” Dr Kuldeep Singh said.
After the trio, including a woman in her 30s and her 13-year-old child tested positive, the Rajputana Mohalla was sealed and declared a containment zone where a door-to-door survey was initiated by the district administration to further detect Covid-19 suspects.
“Meanwhile, Shahzadpur will remain as a containment zone and surveillance activities will continue in the area. On Tuesday, five teams surveyed 375 houses and screened 1,975 people in Shahzadpur and none of them showed any coronavirus-like symptoms,” the civil surgeon said.
“Till date, a total of 947 samples have been collected in Ambala district, out of which, 896 tested negative and the reports of 40 are awaited,” he said
In Ambala, a total of 11 cumulative Covid-19 positive cases have been reported, of which seven have recovered while four are kept under hospital isolation.
