BHUBANESWAR: The 120 Infantry Battalion (territorial army) in Bhubaneswar organised a
blood donation camp on its campus recently.
The commanding officer Colonel D D Swain, other officers and their families donated blood during the
lockdown crisis.
The blood bank of Bhubaneswar municipal corporation (BMC) hospital was approached to organize the camp. The commissionerate police, which is a regional centre of Red Cross, facilitated in organising the camp. Total of 50 units of blood were donated in the camp. Dr K K Sarkar, in-charge of BMC Hospital blood bank supervised the collection of blood.
All safety precautions, including social distance in view of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic were strictly observed. Different time slots were allotted to all donors, in groups of three, in order to avoid crowding.
The tailoring unit of the "Family Welfare Organisation" of the battalion has been working tirelessly and making hundreds of reusable cloth masks which are being distributed amongst the poor and needy persons.
