PATNA:
Bihar chief minister
Nitish Kumar on Tuesday said all those ration card-less families which have been identified as eligible by the self-help groups of '
Jeevika' would be provided financial assistance of Rs 1,000 per family.
“There should be no confusion among people over the issue,” he said while holding a review meeting with the state chief secretary
Deepak Kumar and few other senior officials at the CM residence here.
While taking feedback about the transfer of Rs 1,000 per family in the bank account of all ration card holders, the CM asked the chief secretary to hold a video conferencing with the secretary, food, supply and consumer protection department, all district magistrates (DMs) and all sub-divisional officers (SDOs) and make them clear that all those families which do not have ration card but have been identified as eligible by the Jeevika, would be provided financial assistance of Rs 1,000 per family.
“After providing them Rs 1,000 per family, the administration will take necessary step to issue ration card to all such identified families after conducting proper inquiry,” CM told the chief secretary.
The CM also made it clear that such ration card-less families living in urban areas, would also be provided Rs 1,000 per family after their identification through a proper survey. “The urban development and housing department should complete this survey as early as possible, through the national urban livelihood mission (NULM),” Nitish Kumar said at the meeting.
The CM further asked the officials to ensure that the food grains which are being distributed through the public distribution system (PDS) shops, are of good quality and their weight must be correct.
“If any complaint regarding the quality and weight is received, stern action should be taken against the concerned officials,” Nitish Kumar said.
CM further asked the officials to increase the date for filing claim for input subsidy against the crop loss at least by a week, so that the farmers who have so far not applied due to any reasons, could make online application for the input subsidy against the crop loss due to untimely rains and hailstorm that took place in the month of February and March this year.
