A savvy mum has recreated KFC's famous Twister at home with just 10 ingredients and many who followed her recipe say it tastes better than the original.

The Australian woman used egg milk, chicken broth, garlic powder, salt, pepper, flour, paprika, lemon juice and mayonnaise to replicate the popular chicken wrap.

The home recipe even won over her fussy four year old before it was shared on the Mum's Who Cook & Bake Facebook page.

How to make KFC's Twister wrap at home 

Ingredients:

BATTER

1 egg

1/2 cup milk

1/2 cup chicken broth

1 1/4 teaspoons salt

1/4 teaspoon pepper

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

3/4 cup flour

PEPPER MAYO 

1 cup traditional mayonnaise

2 tablespoons of fresh black pepper

1 teaspoon of lemon juice

BREADING

1 1/2 cups flour

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon paprika

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Method:

1. Make the batter in a medium bowl by whisking together egg, milk, chicken broth, salt, pepper and garlic powder. Whisk in flour.  

2. Combine flour, salt, paprika, black pepper and garlic powder for breading in a pie plate and mix well.

3. Heat oil. Dip the chicken in batter and then roll to coat in breading. Fry until golden brown and cooked through - about 4 mins.

4. Make the mayo sauce by mixing the mayonnaise, black pepper and lemon juice.

5. Serve the chicken on the bread with a salad and the special homemade mayonnaise sauce.

To make your own, first you'll need to coat chicken breast pieces in herbs and spices and then fry them.

Thousands of other mums praised the woman for sharing her simple recipe which they said may be better than Colonel Sanders' original.

'We made this tonight too after seeing it on here so many times the last two days and omg it's amazing,' one person wrote.

'We made these for lunch today. Oh my goodness they were delicious! Even fussy Mr 4 ate several bits of chicken and didn't drown it in sauce either! A massive win for us,' another said.

The amateur chef, from Australia, made the delicious spice mix using salt, black peppercorns, dried onion rings, garlic granules, rosemary, basil, paprika, oregano, yellow mustard seeds, thyme, tarragon and plain flour.

She also used chicken breast cut into strips, eggs and oil to drizzle before cooking them in the air fryer.

The woman first mixed the spices and herbs before adding flour and blending them all together.

The amateur chef then poured additional flour onto a plate and coated the chicken strips in some egg and the flour.

She then cooked the chicken in a Philips XXL Airfryer for five minutes on each side and said 'it tastes just like KFC'.

The air fryer technique was also used by another amateur chef who posted her chicken recipe on Facebook.

How to KFC style chicken in an air fryer 

Ingredients:

Coating:

- 2 tablespoons salt

- 1.5 tablespoons black peppercorns

- 1.5 tablespoons dried onion flakes

- 1 tablespoon dried garlic granules

- 1 tablespoon dried rosemary

- 1/2 tablespoon dried basil

- 1/2 tablespoon paprika

- 1/2 tablespoon dried oregano

- 1/2 tablespoon yellow mustard seeds

- 1 teaspoon dried thyme

- 1 teaspoon tarragon

- 350 grams plain flour

Chicken:

- 2 chicken breasts cut into 5 strips each

- 2 eggs beaten in a bowl

- Oil

Method:

1. Place all spices and herbs into a mixer and blend until find grind

2. Add flour and continue mixing

3. Pour 1/3 of the flour onto a plate

4. Coat chicken strips in egg and then flour. Then put them in egg and then flour again.

5. Place chicken in air fryer and drizzle oil for crispy coating. Cook for five minutes on each side

The woman said she purchased Coles' southern fried chicken pieces and then added garlic powder and Masterfoods' Alabama Rub.

She then placed the crumbed chicken in an air fryer at 160c for 30 minutes before serving.

Facebook users were very impressed with how simple the recipe was to make and said it 'looks delicious'.

'Well done they look awesome,' one person wrote. 'It looks great. I have cooked this before and its yummy,' another agreed.

'Looks amazing,' another person wrote. 'Looks great. Would also like to try it,' one said.
