NEW DELHI: The net of
containment zones expanded to three new areas on Tuesday taking the total number to 87 as the government has ramped up screening and testing of the people. Gali No. 2, 3 and 4 in Devli Extension under South district and in South East district H.No. F-138 and F-139 in Gali No. 1 also known as Shiv Mandir Wali Gali under
Harsh Vihar of
Hari Nagar Extension were declared containment zone.
In East district H.No 300 in Gali No. 3 to H.No 739/16 under Krishna Puri Main Road in Mandawali was declared as one containment zone. Along with the number of containment zones – also known as red zones – the number of orange zones which are also known as buffer zones have increased.
According to sources, the number of total number of orange zone rose to 180 on Tuesday which was 110 last week.
All the containment zones have been sealed and police have barricaded the entry and exit points. No person can be allowed to move out of inside the containment zone. The district authorities are facilitating provision of essential items to meet the need of those living within the containment zones. There is strict restriction on movement of people within the containment zones also.
But in the orange zone – which is usually made of areas surrounding the containment zone – there is no restriction like the red zone. The authorities earmark orange zone to facilitate the carrying out of extensive sanitization and surveillance to check the spread of coronavirus.
