CHANDIGARH: Two more Chandigarh residents tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday night, taking the total number of cases in the city to 25.
Both the patients are the primary contacts of the 50-year-old woman of Sector 30, who had tested positive for the virus on Friday evening. One of them is the husband of the woman and the other is her one-and-a-half-year-old granddaughter, who stays in Maloya with her parents.
The girl is the youngest positive patient in the city. The patients have been admitted at PGI’s Covid hospital. Doctors say that in the case of children, chances of mortality is less than one per cent.
After the confirmation from the PGI and health department during the night hours,
Chandigarh Municipal Corporation swung into action and started locating more contacts of the family.
The officials started tracing each such person, who had come into contact with the family members in the past few days. "We are in constant touch with the family members, their relatives and known persons to trace every single contact and different teams are already in the field in this regard. The Maloya house, where the granddaughter is staying was already home quarantined on Friday night," said sources in the civic body.
After the Sector 30 resident found positive, samples of her nine family members were sent to the virology department of PGI. Out of these samples, two were tested positive on Saturday night and the reports of the two are awaited while the remaining five tested negative.
