820 out of 901 samples tested negative: Mohali DC

MOHALI: The local authorities have claimed 91% of the total samples have tested negative for Covid-19 in Mohali.
Deputy commissioner Girish Dayalan said so far a total of 901 samples have been tested and a 820 have been found negative. The total number of positive cases is 57 and since the past four days, only one positive case has been reported in the district. The DC said that as of now, 640 people are placed under quarantine while a total of 1,874 people have successfully undergone their quarantine period.
The DC said, “The extensive contact tracing and the sampling procedure regarding coronavirus would continue with the same pace as before because it is very important to identify the source of the problem to have a proper real time assessment.”
Meanwhile, harvesting began in Jawaharpur with special emphasis on social distancing. The wheat harvesting process has begun in Jawaharpur under the strict watch of a sevenmember committee. Derabassi sub-divisional magistrate Kuldeep Bawa, who is the head of the committee, said that a total of three combine harvesters have been pressed into service for the harvesting work. These were thoroughly sanitized before start of harvesting. Till date, 350 MT crop has been produced.
He said the entire harvesting process is being carried out by the administration with special emphasis on maintaining the social distancing besides providing the people engaged in the work with masks, gloves and sanitisers.
