45 UP districts pulled up for ‘poor lockdown’

LUCKNOW: The state government has taken a strong note of poor implementation of lockdown in 45 out of 75 districts of the state. In a letter sent to DMs and police chiefs of these districts, including state capital Lucknow, PM's constituency Varanasi and Gautam Budh Nagar, additional chief secretary, home, Awanish Awasthi, has termed their performance ‘unsatisfactory’.
Confirming the report, Awasthi told TOI that district authorities with unsatisfactory performances have been directed to improve lockdown and also prepared themselves for relaxations after April 20.
The report prepared by Awasthi himself, also mentions likely reasons for the poor performance. In case of both Lucknow and GB Nagar, for example, it mentions lack of coordination between police and administration as one of the reasons.
Gorakhpur performed ‘satisfactorily’
Among districts which had performed 'satisfactorily' are chief minister Yogi Adityanath's home district Gorakhpur, Ayodhya, Aligarh, Etah, Hathras, Pilbhit, etc.
Shahjahanpur, the district of medical education minister Suresh Khanna, is among better performing ones, while Prayagraj, the seat of MSME minister Siddarth Nath Singh is among poor. The report has been prepared on the basis of different parameter, including the number of Covid-19 patients, attacks on police and medical staff,implementation of lockdown conditions and other medical facilities.
The ACS has sent the report to all the authorities to improve functioning to check the the transmission of the disease and follow lockdown conditions.
