HAVERI: Savanur police booked five people for allegedly attending a mass prayer at Shukravar Mosque in the town on Friday. Police had resorted to lathi-charge to disperse the gathering which had violated the Covid-19 lockdown and Section 144.
On Saturday, tahsildar Mallikarjun Heggannavar filed a written complaint against Rajahmed Pathan, Fazalahmed Khan Pathan, Jakeerahmed Parash, Nennemia Bannur and Sadiq Maniyar. About 35 people have been mentioned in the FIR. The accused were booked under various sections of the IPC and provisions of the Disaster Management Act and Epidemic Diseases Act.
