Coronavirus in India update: The total number of coronavirus cases in India had reached 17,615, with 1,553 cases and 36 deaths recorded in 24 hours. The overall death toll in the country has jumped to 559, according to the Worldometer data. The country is in the midst of a nationwide lockdown until May 3, but some restrictions are to be eased from today in non-containment areas or regions that have successfully reduced the spread of Covid-19. Construction, select industries/industrial establishments (both government and private), MNREGA works, etc, are some of the activities that are to be permitted. The Delhi government, however, announced on Sunday that it would not allow any lockdown relaxation yet and would prefer to monitor the situation for another week before taking a call.
