Maharashtra: Owners of biscuit manufacturing companies booked for not following safety norms amid lockdown

BHIWANDI: Two FIRs have been filed against four owners of two biscuit manufacturing companies in Ulhasnagar for not adhering to rules laid down by central government during coronavirus lockdown.
It is said to be the first FIR filed against companies in Thane district dealing with essential services for not following safety norms.
The action was taken by Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation on Saturday after a team led by assistant municipal commissioner Ganesh Shimpi came to know about two companies operating without following safety norms.
Talking to TOI, Shimpi said, "During the raid we found both companies have not followed government's guidelines that include maintaining staff records, using masks and sanitizers."
Acting on Shimpi's complaint, the Vitthalwadi Police have filed two separate FIRs against Hari Kashwani, Kishan Kashwani and Namdev Kashwani who owns Bharat Food Products company and also against Chandarlal Gambani who owns Parvati Food Products.
Ramesh Bhane, Senior police inspector of Vithalwadi police station said, "We have registered cases against both companies' owners under section 188 (Disobedience to order promulgated by public servant) of the IPC and also different sections of Disaster Management Act and further probe is on".
