Businesses can sign up the membership with MTA from now until July 1 without the requirement of any payment information. They are also enabled to choose whether or not to continue their membership with the association. They will also receive all MTA communications and other membership benefits for the next three months.
The association is the largest tourism association in the state. It is made up of members that provide traditional tourism interests such as lodging, restaurants, camps, campgrounds, retail establishments, amusements, and cultural and heritage attractions, as well as chambers of commerce, realtors, financial institutions, and any business that benefits from the strong tourism industry.
MTA provides marketing and legislative benefits for its members. In addition, it produces the state’s official travel planner, ‘Maine Invites You’ and the state map. It also operates seven State Visitor Information Centers (Kittery, Yarmouth, Fryeburg, Hampden North and South, Houlton, and Calais).
Tony Cameron, Chief Executive Officer, Maine Tourism Association said in a press statement that the association aims to provide a service for Maine’s tourism businesses that are struggling due to the coronavirus pandemic. He also said that MTA is Maine’s largest state-wide tourism organisation. He shared that it is the only body that represents all aspects of tourism. He expressed that that association does not want any business to miss out any important resources if they fail to afford membership dues.
He mentioned that the tourism association wants to be sure that tourism businesses have access to all the required information to survive the extremely difficult time. He informed that there is huge information in Maine regarding loan programs, unemployment, health, and safety as well as new business regulations and restrictions.
He also said that the association is in constant communication with the Maine Office of Tourism, the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development, the Maine Department of Labor, the Federal Delegation, and the U.S. Travel Association to get answers regarding all queries in order share them with the members.
