Medical intelligence sleuths tracked, warned of new virus
On February 25, the medical intelligence unit raised its warning that the coronavirus would become a pandemic within 30 days from WATCHCON 2 — a probable crisis — to WATCHCON 1 — an imminent one, according to a US official. That was 15 days before the World Health Organization declared the rapidly spreading coronavirus outbreak a global pandemic. Death toll due to COVID-19 touches 414; cases climb to 12,380
Of the total 414 deaths, Maharashtra tops the tally with 187 fatalities, followed by MP at 53, Gujarat at 33, Delhi at 32 and Telengana at 18. TN and Andhra have reported 14 fatalities each. With a view to mitigate hardship to policyholders whose health and motor (3rd party) insurance policies are due for renewal during lockdown, government has issued notification allowing policy holders to make payments on or before May 15, 2020 towards renewal of their policies: FM Sitharaman
