UDHAGAMANDALAM: A 31-year-old doctor with a primary health centre in Thengumarahada in the Nilgiris died in a private hospital in Coimbatore on Wednesday. While some reports claimed that he was a suspected case of Covid-19, Nilgiris collector J Innocent Divya said the doctor had tested negative for the virus.
Dr Jaimohan, who passed away in a private hospital in Coimbatore, was a native of Sirumugai Village near Mettupalayam.
According to Dr P Balusamy, deputy director, public health, Dr Jaimohan was admitted to PSG Hospital in Coimbatore with persistent fever on the night of April 12. “He was treated there for three days. However, he tested negative for Covid-19. He also tested negative for dengue feve.”
He added, “The hospital authorities suspect ‘scrub-typhus’. The patient also suffered multi-organ failure. We are yet to get a detailed report of cause of death of the medical officer.”
