14 arrested and released

Panaji police on Wednesday arrested 14 family members of Goan seafarers  in connection with the hunger strike that was staged outside the official residence of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, demanding repatriation of the sailors.

Police said that 14 people – 12 women and 2 men – were arrested. However, later they were released on bail.

Police said that they were arrested for offences under IPC sections 188, 269 and 270 such as disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant, negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life etc.
