LUCKNOW: Hours after 28 residents from
Sadar were found positive to coronavirus infection, district authorities on Wednesday sealed two more localities, Sadar market and Lakdi Mohaal, falling within the area.
The police placed the entire area under three layers of security and stepped up monitoring by CCTV cameras and drones. A part of Sadar area that borders Lucknow Cantonment was sealed on April 3 after 12 natives of Saharanpur, who were staying at a mosque in Kasaibada area, were tested positive.
Joint commissioner of police (law and order), Lucknow, Naveen Arora said the plan to seal the area was worked out after discussing the situation with administration and municipal authorities.
"A three-layer security has been planned for the area. In the first layer, no one will be allowed at the epicenter where 12 natives of Saharanpur stayed. The second layer of security will cover 100m radius around the core area which will have restricted movement, while in the third layer, which covers 250m area, normal restrictions being observed during sealing will apply," Arora said.
Residents will have to inform police about their requirements. Separate teams of district administration under ADM (supplies) has been constituted to ensure supply of food and other essential items in the area.
"We have installed 19 CCTV cameras to monitor the movement of people. It will also help us in keeping an eye on enforcement. Four drones will also be used," he said, adding that 200 additional policemen have been deployed in the area to ensure implementation of lockdown.
