A photographer has created the perfect optical illusion by working in silhouette to make it seem as though a man was able to grasp the sun with both hands.  

Dr Vivek Nikam took the series of mesmerising images at sunrise in Mangalwedha, central India. 

The sequence shows the figure leaning down before raising the ball of gas slowly up, resting it on his shoulder and eventually lifting it over his head triumphantly.

Dr Nikam said: 'The sun in India is seen as a very precise gift which I love to use in my photography.'
