Health workers’ team attacked in Moradabad, two serious

The incident took place near Haji Nek Masjid in Nagphani area
BAREILLY: On Wednesday, a team of health workers and policemen were attacked by a mob after they reached at Nagphani area for check-up of coronavirus suspects. The mob pelted stones at the medical team and cops in Haji Nek Masjid locality. They also vandalised two ambulances and police vehicles. Additional director general of police (law & order) PV Ramashastri has ordered to impose national security Act (NSA) against the attackers.
At least two health workers sustained serious injuries and the team ran for a cover with difficulties. After the incident, heavy police force has been deployed in the area. Notably, Nagphani has already been sealed being hotspot in the city.
Driver of an ambulance said that a huge crowd had gathered there when they reached to take coronavirus suspects there.
“As soon as our team and the suspect boarded ambulance, the mob started pelting stones targeting at us. Two doctors among others staff sustained serious injuries,” he said.
The attackers tore the safety jackets of the health workers. Four policemen also sustain injuries. After heavy stone pelting that continued up to 20 minutes the accused escaped the scene.
After the incident district magistrate RK Singh and SSP Amit Pathak rushed to the spot to take stock of the incident.
SSP said that three accused had been arrested and they were investigating the matter. “Each and every accused involved in pelting stone will be arrested. Our teams are conducting raids to nab all accused. An FIR is being registered against them under relevant sections,” SSP said.
