Ludhiana: Firemen screened for coronavirus

The step has been taken on precaution grounds and it took place at all five fire stations
LUDHIANA: Screening of 115 fire fighters of Ludhiana fire brigade took place on Wednesday and all of them have been declared fit. The officials though claimed that they got screening of staff done precautionary because fire fighters were going in field for sanitization and sometimes fire incidents too so they require check up. The step has been taken on precaution grounds and it took place at all five fire stations.
The screening took place at central fire station near local adda, Sunder Nagar fire station, Hambran Road fore station, Gill Road fire station and Focal point fire station. The employees were checked for seeing any kind of symptoms in them but most of them were found perfectly fine.
The assistant divisional fire officer Bhupinder Sandhu said, "We got the tests conducted precautionary as these firemen have visited a few fire incidents and they are going for sanitization in field. Then they move from house to their duty place."
A driver of fire brigade home quarantined
On Tuesday night that driver appointed at Sunder Nagar fire station had brought two mechanics for repair of fan in one of the rooms at fire station. When officials inquired him about these mechanics he shared that he brought them from Amarpura area. It created panic among the fire fighters and that driver was immediately sent home. The room where fan was to be repaired has been locked and sanitization of Sunder nagar fire station also took place. The fire officials claimed that they are on duty and they travel from office to field and then home so they cannot take any kind of risk.
The ADFO Sandhu admitted the fact that a driver had come in contact with two residents from Amarpura so they have sent that driver to home quarantine for 15 days and he will be able to join duty once he will be perfectly fine or his samples will be tested.
Fire brigade gets 25 PPE suits from Vardhman
The fire brigade has also received 25 PPE suits from Vardhman group. The assistant divisional fire officer Bhupinder Sandhu said they will give these kits to field staff who go for sanitization in the city areas for their safety. He said Vardhman group has donated these suits to them.
