Prime Minister Narendra Modi decided to extend the lockdown across the country to 3 May for the war against the Coronavirus, a 21-day lockdown running from 25 March to 14 April has now been extended till 3 May.
In his address to the nation, PM Modi said, "Friends, keeping in mind all the suggestions, it has been decided that the lockdown in India will now have to be increased by 3 May. That is, till May 3, all of us, every countryman will have to remain in lockdown. During this time, we have to follow the discipline in the same way as we have been doing.
But the people of the country hoped that they would get some relief from the lock-down on April 14, which would increase their day-to-day functioning but Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while watering the expectations of the people, put the lock-down period across the country till May 3. Increased, as well as said that a review will be done on April 20 to see that places, where there have not been new incidents of coronavirus, would give some laxity. Work will be allowed to be done.
