Quarantined Maharashtra minister urges party members to help poor

THANE: Maharashtra housing minister and NCP MLA from Kalwa-Mumbra, Jitendra Awhad, who has gone into self-quarantine early this week appealed party colleagues to assist people from the economically weaker section from their respective areas to conduct mass testing for the virus.
Awhad, urged party colleagues Anil Deshmukh, Dhananjay Munde and few acquainted affluent families to come forward and ensure people from the economically weaker section of the society were taken care of properly and their checks for the virus are done in time.
“The cost of the test is prohibitive for many people and I appeal residents to come forward and help their poor countrymen in getting the tests conducted and ensure their well-being,” said Awhad through a press brief claiming that he has sponsored tests of around 120 people till date.
The minister also added he has been helping source food for thousands of people daily from Kalwa and Mumbra and appealed his workers to continue the work. “Even though I am in quarantine, the work of serving residents from my constituency shouldn’t stop and no one should sleep hungry here,” he urged his party workers.
