CHENNAI: Two people died of Covid-19 in Chennai hospitals even as 38 more people tested positive for the viral infection in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday, health minister C Vijaya Baskar said. This takes the total number of positive cases in the state to 1,242 and death toll to 14.
A 47-year-old patient admitted to Stanley Medical College Hospital with severe acute respiratory infection died of the viral infection. A 59-year-old patient died in Apollo Hospitals at Vanagaram.
Among those tested positive on Wednesday, one is a postgraduate student from the Madras Medical College. With this, the total number of doctors infected with coronavirus rose to 12. Three others had contact history and 34 of them were from the Tablighi Jamaat cluster.
