THANE: The plush Vartak Nagar ward in Thane has seen the maximum number of Covid-19-positive cases (18) over the last few days followed by Mumbra (17) and Kalwa (15), according to a report put out by the Thane civic body on Monday. The upscale stretch along the Majiwada-Manpada ward has seen 10 cases so far, said deputy municipal commissioner Sandeep Malvi.
The Thane civic body was in the process of classifying zones in the city based on density of positive cases. “The idea is to take corrective measures at the earliest... The Kopri stretch in Thane (east) has been classified as a ‘green’ zone while Mumbra, Kalwa and now Vartak Nagar may be made ‘red’ zones,” said an official. A city hotel is set to be used as as quarantine facility.
