Agriculture, fisheries, and pharmaceutical industries are expected to be given some leeway in the second phase of the nationwide lockdown, which will be operational from April 15 in the country. A senior home ministry official said on Tuesday that highway shore dhabas, truck repair workshops and construction work with local laborers could also be relaxed in lockdown 2.0.

However, restrictions on traffic between districts will continue till 3 May. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced the second phase of the lockdown, saying that some relaxation will be given in a phased manner from April 20.

Permission can be given to open liquor shops

States can also be allowed to implement their own excise policy on behalf of the central government. Explain that the liquor shops in Assam and Meghalaya have already been given permission to open. During the meeting with the Prime Minister on 11 April, Chief Ministers of several states had described liquor as an important means of revenue generation.
