LUCKNOW: The
Lucknow University is preparing a model for increased use of information technology in functioning and is exploring the possibility of conducting online
examinations as well as paper setting.
In a meeting of department heads and vice-chancellor Prof Alok Kumar Rai via video-conferencing on Tuesday, the professors said around 80-90% curriculum of undergraduate and postgraduate courses has been completed of which 45-50 % was done in online classes during lockdown.
"LU has effectively used online learning tools during lockdown. Now, we are developing an examination model for leveraging the use of IT in question paper setting," said Prof Rai.
Governor Anandiben Patel, the chancellor of all state universities, had constituted a seven-member committee to give recommendations on holding online classes, examinations in the 2020-21 academic calendar in view of the disruption of studies and exams due to lockdown. The committee is headed by
Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University vice-chancellor Prof. Vinay Pathak.
LU also formed a panel comprising deans of faculty of law Prof CP Singh, arts Prof BK Shukla and science/commerce Prof Somesh Shukla to ascertain whether the university has the logistics to conduct online examinations or will it have to wait for lockdown to get over. Another committee was set up to assess the possibility of framing question papers in online and offline modes.
