Gujarat: Furniture plot gutted in fire in Alang ship yard

RAJKOT: A furniture plot in Alang ship breaking yard of Bhavnagar district was gutted in fire on Wednesday morning. The fire was later brought under control. The yard was closed due to lockdown. The loss due to fire was yet to be estimated.
The furniture plots in Alang ship yard sell furniture that comes from dead ships. The fire broke out in one of the furniture plots named Mahalaxmi furniture. Three fire tenders of Alang and one from Talaja was deployed on the spot. Alang fire officer PD Vyash said “The fire is in control. The exact reason for the fire is still not known. The reason could be blast in kerosene stove or blast in compressor of water cooler.”
The fire spread more because of wooden furniture and mattress inside the plot. It took fire brigade around four hours to control the fire.
