KOLKATA: The 100-bed
Charnock Hospital downed its shutters on Monday for a thorough sanitization procedure. The drastic measure to contain the spread of novel coronavirus came after a patient, who had undergone dialysis in the hospital, tested positive for Covid-19 and died later in another hospital. Five other patients, who underwent dialysis in the hospital off VIP Road, also later tested positive.
“We have decided to remain shut for at least seven days during which there will be a thorough sensitization drive,” said a source in the hospital.
A patient admitted to a Park Circus nursing home was sent to the VIP Road private hospital a few days ago for dialysis. The patient went back to the Park Circus facility after the dialysis. He died there and his corona-positive report came after his death. After getting this information, Charnock Hospital authorities decided to test the five patients, who received dialysis the same day. A floor manager also tested positive.
