US firm Coatue invests $50 million in Rebel Foods

The latest round of equity financing follow $125 million raised by Rebel Foods last year in the month of August, which was again led by Coatue management which is primarily a technology-focused organisation

According to the filings with the Registrar of Companies, it is revealed that Rebel Foods, operator of Cloud kitchen has managed to raise a whopping $50 million in a fresh funding round from their existing investors, who are the US-based hedge fund Coatue Management.

The current latest round of equity financing follows $125 million raised by Rebel Foods last year in the month of August, which was again led by Coatue management which is primarily technology-focused. The earlier round also saw participation from the investment arms of ride-hailing major GoJek and Goldman Sachs.  The Mumbai based decade-old company was valued at around value of about $525 million in the aforementioned round. As per the data collected by industry tracker Tracxn, the company had also closed a $4.91 million venture debt round from Alteria Capital, In February, this year.

Rebel Foods is an eight-year-old startup, which is commonly known for its larger brands like, Faasos, Behrouz Biryani, In the last three years, the company has opened 1500 + internet restaurants in India across 11 brands in 34 cities, thus creating a completely unique model of building restaurants on the cloud. With wide margins, the company is the world’s largest and fastest-growing Internet Restaurant / Cloud Kitchen platform which is currently at $90 million-plus revenues and 110% Year-on-Year growth.
