During the lockdown, the support of remote people of the country became the postal department. The postal department provided banking facilities in every village, and data from March 23 to April 3 show that it paid money to about 20 lakh people by sending bank facilities to the doorstep of the people.
According to DK Pandey, Director (Account), Department of Posts, the people of the country also understood its importance during this lockdown. People from all the middle classes also availed of the facility.
Collect ten thousand rupees in just five minutes
DK Pandey says that this is the base enabled payment system. For this, it is necessary to have a bank account and Aadhaar number in the country only. According to Pandey, people have been given the facility to give information on the particular number given for their postmaster, postman or in every district.
After this, the postman himself reaches with a small device. The thumb of the person who wants the transaction is placed on this device and after that, he connects the device to his bank account through Aadhaar number. In this way, the postal department immediately makes available up to 10 thousand rupees to that person with an amount of up to Rs 30.
There was a plan to bring it at the time of demonetization
DK Pand says that the plan was to bring it during the time of demonetization, but the technical preparations were halted due to failure. After this, the way to bring it in December 2019 was cleared.
It was pushed forward as a pilot project in January 2020, but people found it more useful at the time of lockdown. Pandey explains that it is completely safe.
Adharcard fully complies with the guidelines of the Authority and the Supreme Court. Not only this, but the postal department also does not get any details related to the customer's bank, etc. As soon as we remove the device, we have no contact with the data.
The device is used by sanitizing
According to the director, the postman has been given a mask, gloves and all, seeing the transition of Kovid-19. The device is also completely sanitized. It is sanitized after every use. DK Pandey explains that it is used more by pension holders, physically weaker people.
