YAMUNANAGAR: The crime investigation agency (CIA)-1 of Yamunanagar police on April 10 arrested three accused and recovered 19 stolen bikes from their possession up to Tuesday, told district police public relations officer (PRO)
Chamkaur Singh.
Arrested accused have been identified as Rajat Kumar and Amit Kumar of Sankhera area in
Bilaspur of district and another of their accomplice, who have been sent to judicial custody on Tuesday, told Chamkaur.
As per the information, on April 10, Yamunanagar CIA-1 received the tip-off that Rajat and Amit are notorious thieves and if they are arrested a number of criminal cases committed can be solved in the region.
"Following the Yamunanagar CIA-1 in-charge formed a team to keep an eye on these suspects. On April 10, the team managed to arrest Rajat and Amit from Jaggi Petrol Pump,
Ambala City, in connection with a case 18/20, registered under Section 379 (punishment for theft) of the
Indian Penal Code (IPC) at
Yamunanagar City police station", said PRO Chamkaur.
"Both accused Rajat and Amit were taken on three-day police remand as per court orders, and during their interrogation they confessed committing 19 thefts of bikes from different police station areas of the district. Third accused was arrested during the remand period for helping them", added Chamkaur.
"Before this, the Ambala district police had recovered 12 bikes from their possession in cases registered at Yamunanagar City,
Farakpur and Bilaspur police station areas. After arrests of these accused a total 31 theft cases registered at different police stations including Jagadhri City,
Jagadhri Sadar, Yamunanagar City, Farakpur, and Bilaspur of the district have been solved", further added Chamkaur.
On Tuesday, accused Rajat, Amit and another of their accomplice have been sent to judicial custody as per court orders, told the Yamunanagar police.
