Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday addressed the nation on the last day of coronavirus lockdown. In his address, the Prime Minister said that the nation-wide lockdown will be extended till May 3. He urged all to maintain the same discipline till the end of the lockdown and ensure that Covid-19 doesn’t spread to new areas. A graded relaxation of lockdown measures from April 20 would be taken in areas where the strictest measures have been followed and no cases found by authorities. He emphasised that these areas would be put back under lockdown if even one case of the novel coronavirus was found. PM Modi further said that detailed guidelines regarding the continuing lockdown would be released on April 15. He also assured all that the government was working hard to ensure that the supply chain remains unimpeded. Thanking the hundreds of healthcare workers that were working hard on the pandemic frontlines, he also asked all bright scientists to put in effort to develop a vaccine for the novel coronavirus.
